Fundraiser Carnival in Clifton Park Helps Fight Against Childhood Cancer

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- People in Clifton Park worked Sunday to raise money in the fight against childhood cancer.

Nick's Fight to be Healed, an organization dedicated to helping families whose children have cancer, held a fundraiser carnival and run Sunday in Clifton Park.

The day's special guest was four-year-old Isabella Caruso.

Isabella was diagnosed with leukemia in June 2015, and Nick's Fight helped her family during their stay at the hospital.

Nick's Fight provides financial help as well as support from families who went through the experience themselves.

It's named after Nick Cammarata, who died from Lieukemia back in 2008.

"But also when you bring families together who have a common cause they have this feeling of healing and community support, because you need that emotional support to get through a cancer diagnosis," said Janine Cammarata, Nick's Fight to be Healed president and co-founder.

Organizers hoped to raise about $40,000 from Sunday's event.
